Glastonbury '08

Jim showing a youngster how to braid. Margaret B helping a visitor to get started on a spinning wheel.

Our first visit to the Rural Life Museum at Glastonbury this year was Bank Holiday Monday 26th May (my birthday!), typical of a bank holiday the weather was terrible but the staff found us room inside the Museum.

The usual gang of four (Carol, Fay, Ellen & myself) were joined be Margaret Banerji and we were soon kept busy, especially Margaret letting both young and old try their hand at spinning.

Our next visit to the museum was Saturday and Sunday the 12th & 13th July and this time we set up camp in the open-fronted wagon shed.

On the Saturday Sally Bail, spinning Alpaca, and Margaret Banerji, who once again encouraged visitors to have a go at spinning, joined "the gang of four". We also had the opportunity to sort through some fleeces that had been donated.

On Sunday Monica Beardsmore and Jaquie Teal replaced Sally. Jaquie brought along her Rigid-Heddle Loom that attracted quite a bit of interest.

Despite the quality of the weather we all enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to next year.
