The Somerset Guild is always welcoming new members!

What does membership include?

  • Access to monthly meetings and a programme of talks and workshops

  • A quarterly newsletter with information, adverts and reports on meetings and Guild activities

  • We have regular visiting sellers at Guild meetings selling materials and equipment.

  • Equipment hire

  • Borrow books and videos from our comprehensive library – borrow books free of charge for a month with a late fee of 25p if they are returned late (which increases with subsequent months).

  • Member Discounts. As Guild members we are fortunate enough to receive discounts on purchases at a number of retailers upon production of a membership card. The list of retailers will be kept on the website for future reference:

    • Frank Herring, Dorchester 10%

    • Yandles, Martock 10% (also need Yandles card available at the Guild)

    • Bredons, Taunton discretionary linked to purchase value

    • We also have Guild membership at Yeovil Scrapstore where lots of unusual items are available – often offcuts of fabric, fibre and card available

We hold exhibitions in our area. The Guild has three trophies awarded on an annual basis: the Quantock Weavers Memorial Trophy for weavers ; the Morfudd Roberts Memorial Trophy for spinners  and the Dyeing Trophy

Cost

The membership subscription is £27 per year payable in one instalment in January or in two instalments of £14 in January and July. Associate membership is £5 with a charge of £4 for each visit (max 3 per year).

Come along!

You don’t need to become a member immediately you can visit for £4 and get a feel for the Guild. On your first visit, please make yourself known to the reception desk in the village hall and one of our committee members will gladly pair you up with a guild member who can introduce you to others and show you the ropes.
